Looking 4 Coin Information Part II!Description:I am trying to find out what kind of coins these are or where I can get more information on these coins and what they might be worth if anything. I believe they came from the middle east, brought back from Iraq and I believe they are all gold. Comments:

If I were you, I'd do a little research to determine if they actually did come from Iraq --starting with who you got them from and if that person had any kind of importation documents (assuming you are located in the U.S. or other country that would be concerned with such things). Then I'd ask myself, in light of the looting of artifacts from the museum in Baghdad, "might they be stolen antiquities?" The average Joe citizen, or American soldier in Iraq would not be running around with a pocket full of these.
To do more investigating, you might want to contact one or more of the major universities that deal with ancient languages (Berkeley, U. of Michigan, Oxford, etc.) to see if someone there can translate the writing.
You might also want to go through the pages listed in the Catalog at http://www.tomcederlind.com/catalog/index.html to see if you can find your coins, or contact the owner of the site directly.
It's Greek to me:)

I have never been to Iraq myself but the person that has them didn't bring them back himself but found them. Not going to go into all the details but they were found and found here in the states. We believe brought back by a soldier but don't know who by or when. If they were stolen, nobody associated with the coins now stole them.

Well good luck with them. I hope if you identify them, you'll let us all know more about them here at picanswers.com.

I sure will... :)

Here's another excellent site to check out. There's a forum where you might have the luck of talking to an expert -- and lots of images in their catalog. Now I'm not going to look any further or I might get hooked on coin collecting. Good luck:)

From what we have gathered it seems the coins are unfortunately copy's of Bactrian gold coins. I was told they are in the wrong metal for these issues and they are cast rather than struck. Whether this information is good or not I don't know and we will continue to search for more information :).

I would smell a rat straightaway; they are to good to be true. you would pay a lot of dollars for coins that good a condition.
The alternative of course is that they are stolen from a museum.
